New Patients: How to Get Started
Reaching out is the hardest step. Here is exactly what happens after you do, from the first call to your first session.
Six steps to your first session
Call or send a message: Call 443-978-8688 during office hours or use our contact form. Tell us who the appointment is for and whether you prefer our Salisbury office, our Bethesda office or telehealth.
Tell us what you are looking for: A sentence or two is enough. You can also ask for a particular clinician after reading the profiles on our team page. Our office staff will suggest someone whose background fits.
Check your insurance or ask about self-pay: Have your insurance card ready, and use the five questions on our insurance and fees page to check your benefits. We also offer self-pay rates and a Sliding Fee Program.
Schedule your first visit: Our office staff will find a time and explain any paperwork. Existing patients can use the Patient Portal link at the top of every page.
Come to your initial assessment: Your therapist will invite you to share what has been going on and any goals you have. Read what to expect from therapy for more.
Decide on a plan together: You and your therapist decide how often to meet. Weekly sessions are typically recommended in the beginning.
